The 47th Bangkok International Motor Show 2026 Achieves Over 40,000 Vehicle Bookings at Mid-Event, Reflecting Strong Market Momentum

The 47th Bangkok International Motor Show continues to generate strong momentum at its halfway mark, reflecting sustained consumer interest in the automotive industry despite ongoing economic uncertainties, including purchasing power constraints and household debt. Total vehicle bookings in the first half of the event have exceeded 40,000 units.

Mr. Jaturont Komolmis, Vice Chairman of the event, stated that booking figures during the first half have reached a satisfactory level. Key factors driving market activity include the launch of new vehicle models within the show, as well as intensified promotional campaigns from automotive brands. These campaigns—ranging from special interest rates and exclusive giveaways to comprehensive maintenance packages—have helped reduce long-term ownership costs and made purchasing decisions more accessible for consumers. As of the midpoint, total bookings reached 41,778 units, representing a significant increase of 68.8% compared to the previous year.

At the same time, the continued entry and expansion of international automotive brands in the Thai market have played an important role in energizing the event. These brands are introducing new technologies alongside competitive pricing, offering consumers a wider range of choices—particularly in the alternative energy vehicle segment, which has emerged as the most in-demand category.

Visitor attendance has remained consistently strong, especially over weekends. This indicates that, despite economic headwinds, demand for vehicle ownership remains intact. However, consumers are exercising greater caution in their decision-making. A large proportion of attendees are considered to have genuine purchasing intent rather than visiting purely for leisure, contributing to higher-quality bookings.

Looking ahead, organizers anticipate that the second half of the event—particularly the final week—will see an acceleration in booking volumes. This is driven by consumers finalizing decisions after comparing offers across multiple brands, combined with increasingly competitive promotional campaigns typically introduced toward the end of the show.

Overall, the mid-event performance underscores the resilience and potential of Thailand’s automotive market, which continues to attract strong consumer engagement despite prevailing economic challenges.
